Burgundy 2019 En Primeur Offer – Latest releases

The 2019 Burgundies have brought some very welcome good news. Another very warm vintage has produced both excellent reds and whites which are easily the equal of the 2018s and possibly just have the edge.

En Primeur due for arrival early 2022

All prices ex vat & duty except where indicated

Meo Camuzet

Jean Nicolas’ wines have fabulous structure and intensity of fruit. The Pommard (from the Tavannes vineyard)  is packed with dense juicy fleshy dark and red fruits. The drinking window is 2025 onwards.

Pommard F&S   –  case of 6  –  £250.00

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Vougeraie’s Bourgogne Blanc and Rouge are both excellent in 2019 with great structure and fabulous quality of fruit. The Chambolle contains 25% fruit from the 1er Cru sites of Baudes and Greunchers, so excellent quality here. Both whites are delicious and seriously age-worthy, the Charlemagne is outstanding. The 2 grand cru reds are spectacular this vintage, both will need several years cellaring.

Bourgogne Blanc Terres de Familles  –  case of 6  –  £100.00
Bourgogne Rouge Terres de Familles  –  case of 6  –  £100.00
Chambolle Musigny  –  case of 6  –  £250.00

Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru  –  case of 6  –  £750.00
Le Charlemagne (ex Corton-Charlemagne)  –  case of 6  –  £590.00

Philippe Colin

Both Chassagnes have exceptional balance of freshness, power, beautifully ripe (but never overly) fruit and aromatics. The only issue is there is just so little available. Lovely wines in 2019.

Bourgogne Blanc  –  case of 12  –   £145.00
Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Chaumees Clos Saint-Abdon  –  case of 6  –  £275.00
Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru En Remilly  –  case of 6 – £275.00

Benjamin Leroux

Ben Leroux compares his 2019s to 2010 with a bit more freshness. The result is a wonderful range of wines with plenty of perfume and aromatics as well as all the ripe fruit flavours characterised by this excellent vintage. These are all really very good indeed.

Meursault  –  case of 6  –  £195.00
Savigny-les-Beaune  –  case of 6  –  £112.00

Domaine de Montille (formerly Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet)

One of the most respected Domaines in Burgundy and biodynamic since 2005, we are big fans. Perfect balance of power and refined acidities across all the wines. Both Pulignys are excellent.

Bourgogne Blanc ‘Le Clos du Chateau’  –  case of 12  –  £220.00
Puligny-Montrachet  –  case of 12  –  £500.00
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Chalumeaux  –  case of 6  –  £350.00

Olivier Merlin

With a move to far less new oak and early harvesting the Merlin family have produced wonderfully fine and crisp whites with the characteristic ripeness of the vintage. The Roche Vineuse V.V. is aged for a year in old oak and is a superb chardonnay.

Macon La Roche Vineuse  –  case of 12  –  £105.00
Macon La Roche Vineuse Vieilles Vignes  –  case of 12  –  £135.00
Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Sur la Roche’  –  case of 6  –  £120.00

Domaine Paul & Marie Jacqueson

A very small crop of incredible concentration. What marks the 2019s out from other very hot vintages is the excellent acidity which keeps everything in balance and this is absolutely the case for Jacqueson. As last year the Pucelles is all ripe orchard fruits and fresnness, the Nauges richness and weight.

Rully Blanc  –  case of 12  –  £190.00
Rully Blanc 1er Cru la Pucelle  –  case of 12  –  £250.00
Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru Les Naugues  –  case of 12  –  £250.00

Domaine Fiona Leroy

Just the second vintage from the dynamic young Fiona Leroy who owns 2.7 hectare Domaine in Maranges, the most southerly point of the Cote de Beaune. Everything is organic and biodynamic, hands-off traditional wine making, no new oak and minimal SO2, no fining or filtration for the reds. Get these wines whilst you can, prices are already up on last year.

Bourgogne Rouge ‘les Foultieres’  –  case of 12  –  £170.00
Maranges Rouges ‘Sur le Bois’  –  case of 12  –  £230.00
Maranges Rouges 1er Cru Clos des Loyeres  –  case of 12  –  £275.00

Domaine Marc Roy

This is the first time we have offered Marc Roy’s wines en primeur and what a vintage to start with. The Bourgogne Rouge is from a tiny half hectare block within the commune of Gevrey. The Justice is from 45 year old vines and is the freshest, most elegant of his Gevreys.

Bourgogne Rouge  –  case of 6  –  £120.00
Gevrey-Chambertin la Justice  –  case of 6  –  £279.00

Domaine Comte Armand

Paul Zinetti was about 30% down on a ‘normal’ vintage due to super-strict elimination of sun-burnt grapes. Fleshy fruit, richness, balancing acidity and tannins charcterises his 2019s; another spectacular vintage for Epeneaux.

Auxey Duresses Rouge  –  case of 6  –  £140.00

Michel Niellon

On average Niellon was 30% down on last year so quantities are limited but the resulting wines are excellent.

Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru les Champs gain  –  case of 12  –  £525.00

De Courcel

Giles de Courcel compares the quality and style of his 2019s to 2009 and 1999; high praise indeed. As last year the Vaumuriensis wonderfully plush and richly textured, and will be delicious in 3 to 5 years

Pommard Vaumuriens  –  case of 6  –  £285.00

Domaine Christian Moreau

We are lucky again to be able to offer all of Christian’s Grand Crus; this is a chance to stock up on these amazing wines that offer incredible value compared to Cote de Beaune Grand Crus. Les Clos, Valmur (both from 55 year old vines) and Vaudesir are great wines, all 3 see 50% barrel ferment. The Blanchots plot is small Moreau only produces 3 barrels!

Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon  –  case of 6  –  £125.00
Chablis Grand Cru Valmur  –  case of 6  –  £240.00
Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos  –  case of 6  –  £240.00
Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir  –  case of 6  –  £240.00
