Created in 2012, a Priest, a restauranteur and a rancher (not a joke) wanted unique wines that represented the altitude of their vineyards and to obtain the maximum potential of the varieties with which they work: Hondarribi Zuri and Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia 95% and 5% Riesling. With reduced yields per hectare, half that allowed for the DO, minimal intervention, and fermentation with indigenous yeasts.
Bat Gara Urtaran 2016
Straw yellow. Aromas of tropical fruits, white flowers, hay and a slight touch of vanilla. In mouth, peach pineapple, honey, with a volume that fills your mouth.
95% Basque local Hondarrubi Zuri with a dash of 5% Riesling, fermented in chestnut barrel and aged for around 8 months. The Riesling cushions the natural vivacity and zing of the Hondarrubi with the oak adding textural breadth rather than overt woody notes.
