Castello di Tassarolo is situated in the Gavi DOCG commune that shares its name. Massimiliana is the latest in the Spinola family line that stretches back to the 8th Century and who have owned the castle since the 14th Century. Massimiliana and Henry manage their 20 hectares of vineyard along Biodynamic principles and champion the use of heavy horses (one of which is called ‘Nicotine’) to further influence their soils’ health. The wines are organic and handmade and exemplify perfectly the high standards and respectfully natural production of the estate. The whites are all single commune Gavi DOCS and, highlighting the historical importance of the estate, the Commune is named Tassarolo after their estate.

This wine is produced with 100% purest organic Nebbiolo grapes from the Comune of Fubine. These beautiful vineyards are farmed organically. The Nebbiolo, considered to be one of the best vines in the world, marries well with the estate’s natural philosophy. The Chiaretto is a delicate but profound rose colour with orange and straw highlights. A fresh, floral and crushed berry aroma leads to a rich and vibrant palate with lovely stony minerality.

“In fact by using a vinification process suitable for whites with this red, which foresees the immediate separation of the must from the skin for grapes freshly harvested, one obtains a natural rosiness, without invasive enological interventions or the use of foreign additives, conserving the authenticity of the Nebbiolo grape. To characterize this wine, an innate living warmth that encloses all the potential of this grape, which transmutes into an unexpected alchemical longevity.”
