The Chassagnoux family got their start in Bordeaux in 1903 as negociants. From there, they purchased their first vineyard in 1955, when they created Chateau Jean Voisin. The idea to buy the estate was the brainchild of Pierre Chassagnoux and Amedee Chassagnoux.
The next purchase for the family was in the Fronsac appellation, when Xavier Chassagnoux obtained Chateau Renard in 1978. Today, Jean Voisin remains a family run estate as it’s still owned and managed by members of the family, Xavier Chassagnoux and Laurence Chassagnoux.
