Compass Box was founded in 2000 by John Glaser, former marketing director for Johnnie Walker. Dissatisfied with how Blended Scotch Whisky was was produced and ultimately marketed, Glaser set out to shake up the world of blends and how they are perceived. Compass Box started in Glaser's kitchen where his first whisky, Hedonism, was the world's first Blended Grain Scotch Whisky. Today the company has a wide range of blended whiskies and blended malts for the novice and zealot alike.

Glaser's approach to blending is based on the long forgotten model of the Scotch whisky blending house. Compass Box source individual casks and create artisan, idiosyncratic products. This strive towards individuality is what makes their whiskies stand out so much on our shelves and in our glasses. No colouring is added to their products, nor are they chill filtered.
