Daou Vineyards Eye of the Falcon 2018

Vol- 75cl

The Eye of the Falcon is a joyous marriage of two beloved Bordeaux varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The nose offers vivid aromas of blackberry, cassis, bing cherry and saddle leather. Subtle notes of mulberry, kirsch, pencil shavings and milk chocolate are accented by crushed dried flowers and a suggestion of mint. On the palate, a torrent of juicy, concentrated fruit flavors includes boysenberry, plum, black currant and blueberry, all graced by hints of sage, sandalwood and black raspberry. The mouthfeel is layered, harmonious and firmly structured with a silky texture. Bright fruit ultimately yields to richer layers of exotic spice, cigar box and fennel, concluding with a long, elegant finish.

Brothers George & Daniel Daou discovered the land that was to become Daou Mountain 10 years ago, the result of their search to find an unrivalled terroir for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. What was then Hoffman Mountain Ranch vineyard and winery was the first gravity-flow winery in America and first commercial-scale winery in Paso Robles.
Known affectionately as “Maestro” and “the dean of Americans winemakers,” then enoligist Andre Tchelistcheff mentored a long list of legendary California winemakers. He revolutionized Napa Valley wine making by concentrating on high-quality California Cabernet Sauvignon aged in small French oak barrels.

George & Daniel bring the same drive, passion, exactitude & intensity that led these one-time refugees from the Lebanon to forge success in the business world to the cultivation of this land. The estate stands alone at 2,200 feet and is a true contender for ‘first growth’ stature with its soils, aspect and climate. This is partnered with the skill of the brothers in their pursuit of excellence in the vineyard and cellar.
