Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded in 1998 when the domaines of Claudine Deschamps, Pierre Ponnelle, Louis Voilland and L’Heritier-Guyot were merged. The man behind the venture was Jean-Claude Boisset, whose own considerable holdings meant that Domaine de la Vougeraie became a significant player in the Cote d’Or, with 37 hectares of prime vineyard including seven grand crus to their name.
A family estate uniting a collection of the most prestigious, historical vineyards in Burgundy, the winery strictly adheres to organic and Biodynamic farming in order to achieve a balance between the earth, the plant and humanity, with the goal of drawing the best from the terroir.

Domaine de la Vougeraie Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2019
13% abv
Expressive, spicy and silky, with berry and cherry fruit wrapped in toasty, vanilla-tinged oak. Firm yet elegant, with a layer of dusty tannins; however, the lasting impression is ripe fruit and an underlying mineral element. Just needs time. Best from 2026 through 2045. 95 points Wine Spectator
From two parcels at the top and bottom of the vineyard picked on different days, the 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, which contains one-quarter whole bunch, has a tightly wound bouquet of brambly red berry fruit, woodland/autumn leaf and subtle hints of wild mushroom. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, good energy and tension and a judiciously spiced, quite persistent finish. This is a classy Clos de Vougeot. 92-94 points Vinous
Ripe and appealingly fresh aromas are composed by sauvage and earth-inflected notes of mostly red and dark berries. Once again, the mouthfeel is really quite sleek as the rounded yet reasonably precise and energetic flavors possess a seductive texture, all wrapped in a youthfully austere, sappy and impressively persistent finale. This will need to develop better depth to merit the upper end of my projected range, but the potential certainly appears to be present. 91-94 points Allen Meadows – Burghound
There are two parcels here; one of nearly a hectare resulting from the purchase of l’Héritier Guyot near the entrance to the château, the other is from Pierre Ponnelle at the bottom of the slope. Despite the difference in maturity of the two parcels, the result is perfumed and very elegant, if lacking a bit of tension and grip. Drinking Window 2021 – 2029. 92 points Decanter
