The Dugat family have been winegrowers in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation since the beginning of the 17th century. Bernard Dugat and his son, Loîc are the 12th and 13th generation to exploit the unique knowledge of wine-making and working in the vines, which has been acquired over four centuries.
Dugat-Py Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru “Champeaux” 2007
A discreet floral note adds interest to the ripe dark berry fruit that carries a distinct sauvage note as there is a smoked meat character that continues onto the velvety, rich, pure and mouth coating flavors that are also blessed with huge underlying material that relegates the firm tannic spine to the background and makes this seem unduly forward. Make no mistake however, this explosive effort is built to age and will need at least a decade to be at its best.
