Fabio Motta Nova Bolgheri Bianco 2017

13% abv

70% Vermentino, 15% Viognier and 15% Sauvignon Blanc from the ‘Vignanova’ vineyard in Bolgheri’s Fornacelle area. Graceful and subtle with sensations of broom flowers and acacia. The Viognier gives some delicate notes of exotic fruits. In the evolution the nose becomes even more important with sensations of almond. Very elegant and rich in the mouth, sapid and good acidity.

Whole bunches are pressed very slowly and the juice is static for 2 days. After a low and slow ferment under 13 degrees the wines remains on its fine lees for around 5 months before bottling.

This is the story of one man’s dream come true, Fabio Motta, who founded the winery in 2009 with the acquisition of 4 hectares of vines planted in 1997 within the Bolgheri DOC. The position is excellent: overlooking the sea, at the feet of the characteristic rolling hills of Bolgheri, with southwestern exposure. No newcomer to Bolgheri, Fabio has worked for many years with esteemed Bolgheri producer Michele Satta, who is also his father-in-law.

Fabio’s wines respect and reflect the characteristic traits of the Bolgheri terroir, interpreted within the unique frame of each vintage. In the cellar, Fabio works in a simple way, following his philosophy of “non-interference,” using natural yeasts and no filtering, crafting wines which excel in elegance and complexity rather than power and concentration.

In 2015 Fabio started converting his vineyards into biodynamic.
