GlenAllachie MacNairs 12 Year Old 2006

46% abv

Vol- 70cl

The MacNairs 12 Year Old is a combination of peated Islay and peated Speyside malt blended together with older GlenAllachie. It has been matured at The GlenAllachie Distillery near Aberlour in Speyside and vatted by Master Distiller Billy Walker, one of the most respected blenders in Scotland. All are bottled at natural colour, non-chill filtered and 46% ABV and above.

The new Lum Reek peated whiskies are inspired by the famous Scottish toast ‘lang may yer lum reek’, which literally means ‘long may your chimney smoke’ and is used to wish someone a long life and prosperity. The whiskies are also inspired by the creative spirit of Glaswegian expert distiller and blender, Harvey MacNair.

A combination of whiskies from first fill Bourbon, Red Wine and Pedro Ximenez casks were blended together to produce this smoky malt.

Colour: Copper Bronze.
Nose: Sweet peat reek combining with butterscotch and mocha.
Taste: Lashings of rich peat reek with mature heather notes, bog myrtle, butterscotch, toffee and sweet spices.

Just south of Aberlour and in the shadow of Ben Rinnes you will find GlenAllachie Distillery.

GlenAllachie was built during the boom times of 1967/68 for the Scottish & Newcastle Breweries subsidiary Mackinlay-McPherson Ltd. The distillery was designed to be almost full gravity fed to run on reduced energy (crafty brewers).

In February 1968, the distillery began its first production run with the capacity of producing almost three million litres of alcohol. Operations began with two stills and increased to four after just six months.

Recently revitalised by Billy Walker (of GlenDronach, BenRiach and Glenglassaugh fame), GlenAllachie burst back onto the scene in 2018 with a 10, 12, 18 and 25 year old. It has since seen a 15 year old join the ranks along with some interesting adventures in cask finishing and some truly exceptional single casks.
