Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment

43% abv

Vol- 70cl

Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment (43% ABV) is a pioneering single malt Scotch whisky from Glenfiddich. It is the first in its history to be finished in our Somerset Pomona Spirit casks, born out of craft, tradition, and desire for experimentation. This innovative single malt celebrates and elevates the Glenfiddich sweet and fruity signature style. The sublime depth of Scotch whisky is complemented by the delicate sweetness of Somerset apples.

Discover the Glenfiddich Orchard flavour profile:

Nose: classic Glenfiddich notes of fresh pair and ripe orchard fruits, elevated and accentuated by a finishing period in Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks.
Taste: an initial burst of ripe orchard fruits on the palate softens and develops into sweet creamy toffee, caramelised apple, and woody spice
Finish: long lasting sweetness

For our latest experiment, Brian Kinsman, our malt master, travelled to Somerset in the southwest of England to meet Matilda Temperley, master distiller of her family’s industry-defining Somerset cider brandy company. Somerset Pomona, a blend of apple cider brandy and apple juice, started him on an aromatic journey that led to the first ever single malt Scotch whisky finished in Somerset Pomona spirit casks.

Founded in 1886 by William Grant, the first spirit flowed from the stills at Glenfiddich on Christmas Day 1887. By 1923 Prohibition was in full force, and Glenfiddich made the controversial decision to increase production. This put them in a strong position once Prohibition ended, allowing for increased sales.

Ever the innovators, in 1963 they released the first 'single malt', essentially creating the category and paving the way for future generations of whisky makers all over the world.
