Glengoyne Cask Strength

58.2% abv

Distilled from air-dried barley without peat smoke, and using the soft, pure local water, this unique whisky is bottled unchill-filtered at cask strength to preserve its natural flavour. Like every Glengoyne, the amber hue is created by time and oak, nothing more. The nose is filled with biscuity, buttery shortbread and apples. The palate is very zingy, with lots of barley and lemon sherbet, which gives way to a barley, biscuity finish. This is a whisky that doesn’t need peat to achieve greatness!

Founded in 1833 originally as Burnfoot distillery, it was later changed to Glen Guin and then eventually Glengoyne – “the valley of the wild geese”. Located a dozen or so miles north of Glasgow, Glengoyne is unique in that the distillery itself is located in the Highland region, while the warehouses, across the A81, are technically in the Lowlands.

Moreover, Glengoyne is equiped with one wash still and two spirit stils (they usually come in pairs) with owners Ian Macleod Distillers proudly declaring that these are 'the slowest stills in Scotland'.
