Gusbourne Estate has become a standard-bearer of quality English sparkling and still wines. Twice awarded the IWSC English Wine Producer of the Year, they continue to go from strength to strength. The estate sits on the low slopes of the ancient Kentish escarpment at Appledore and, with a tiny annual production, they carefully manage their distinct terroirs and fully exploit the exceptional microclimates. The single site estate has twenty hectares with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir (high proportion of Burgundy clones) and Pinot Meunier. Being composed of exclusively south-facing slopes ensures for most of the summer months the vines bask in warm and dry conditions. Located 6 miles from the coast, the sea has a moderating influence providing a long growing season allowing them to also boast some of England’s best still Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines - perfect base wines for quality sparkling wine.
