The Hesketh Wine Company is a small, family owned producer of high quality, yet accessible wines. It is run by Jonathan Heketh, the son of Robert Hesketh who was the business partner of the famous Peter Lehamann. In 1979, Robert Hesketh and Peter Lehmann started a small enterprise called Masterson Wines. This business was celebrated for saving many Barossa growers during the vine pull scheme of the early 80's, and went on to become the family winemaking dynasty of Peter Lehmann wines. Now forty years later Peter's son is chief winemaker at Hesketh. Rather than attempt to be all things to all people from one region, the Hesketh approach is to remain focused on the individual strengths of different South Australian growing regions.

Hesketh Wine Company MK.01 Cabernet Shiraz 2013
14.5% abv
Mk 01 is made up of 60% Reynell Selection Cabernet Sauvignon – original cuttings from pre-phylloxera Bordeaux – sourced from a single block in Southern Coonawarra, while the Shiraz fruit (40%) comes from the ‘House Block’ of Phil Lehmann’s 20Ha Eden Valley property.
Each wine released under the Lehmann | Hesketh label is a unique representation of the Cabernet Shiraz blend. Future vintages will be released in sequence – ie ‘Mk 02’ and so on. Lehmann | Hesketh will only be bottled in vintages where the fruit quality is deemed worthy of this noble blend.
