Holden Manz Visionaire 2013
Intense dark red; nose of red berry, mulberry, white pepper, fynbos and violets. Smooth elegant palate with spicy, slightly grippy finish. Red and black fruits dominate. Multiple components show off own unique characters while combining to produce an experience greater than the parts. Pair with 30 day air dried fillet steak with a pepper sauce!
The Visionaire is produced using grapes exclusively from Franschhoek. A fantastic take on a spicy Bordeaux style blend, Visionaire consists of 35% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 11% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot. The individual wines were matured separately for 18 months in 225 litre French oak barrels of which 20% were new with the remainder 2nd and 3rd fill. The blend was compiled and allowed to continue barrel maturation for a further 6 months.
