I Pentri takes its name from an ancient Samnite Tribe and is based in the Benevento province of Campania with 10 hectares of terraced vineyards on the hillsides of Monte Taburno. Husband-and-wife team Dionisio Meola and Lia Falato founded the winery in 2002 after 20 years experience of tending vines and the land in this area close to their hearts. Vineyards are tended and harvested by hand. No chemicals are used and natural biodynamic practices are followed with minimal interventions in the winery. Wines are fermented with wild yeasts and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
I Pentri L’Amore Delle Api Fiano 2021
A waxy and rotund swathe of peachy pureness. hints of tangerine oil and fuzzy sage and mint waft along on a bracing spine of glorious textural acidity. The palate is intertwined between immediate fruit pleasure and a nuanced, persistent structure that will see it get better and better as it blossoms over the medium term. There is a load of undoubted mineral tension and energy with a tendrils of spice adding to the nuanced complexity that tugs at the palate and lures you in for more.
Fermented and aged in large old wood. from grapes grown on clay and limestone.
