I Pentri takes its name from an ancient Samnite Tribe and is based in the Benevento province of Campania with 10 hectares of terraced vineyards on the hillsides of Monte Taburno. Husband-and-wife team Dionisio Meola and Lia Falato founded the winery in 2002 after 20 years experience of tending vines and the land in this area close to their hearts. Vineyards are tended and harvested by hand. No chemicals are used and natural biodynamic practices are followed with minimal interventions in the winery. Wines are fermented with wild yeasts and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
I Pentri Pietra Della Volpe Aglianico 2015
14.5% abv
Vol- 75cl
Inky black fruit tones gently edge from the glass drawing you in to discover more. Savoury and saturated juice with dark cherry and sage. A long, long palate unwinds with tapenade, tar and a nuanced floral flourish of mineral cocoa-powder textures that suspend the dark fruit and levitate almost menacingly over the layered profile.
Macerated in Stainless with ferment finishing in wood before aging for 1 year in large sed French oak & barrique. From selected fruit of old vines on clay, Limestone and sandstone terraces. Wild yeasts, unfined and unfiltered.
