Mas la Mola Priorat Blanco 2011
The grapes (70% Macabeo with 30% Garnacha Blanca) were hand picked and sorted before a 48 hour maceration period. A proportion were then fermented at 16ºC in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine was then stored in contact with the fine lees for a little over 4 months. The remainder of the fruit was barrel fermented and matured for 6 months in new French Allier oak barrels. Deep, straw yellow in colour with a pronounced aromatic nose. Perfumes of peaches, apricots and a hint of flinty minerality. On the palate it is full bodied with good depth of flavour. Flavours of apricots and a creamy texture are supported by a crisp acidity. A long minerally finish. From the very fashionable Priorat region of Spain.
