Mount Gay Origins The Copper Stills (2x35cl)

46% abv

The Mount Gay Origin Series is a limited edition collection that explores over three hundred years of the craftsmanship on which the Mount Gay portfolio is built.

Each installment features a pairing of rums, carefully selected, blended and finished by Master Blender Allen Smith in order to highlight the dichotomies
of aromas and textures witnessed when changing various aspects of the rum crafting process.

Each rum of the pair is christened with a unique name, and illuminated by a story that provides context within the history of our craft.

The rums are accompanied by an information pack, guiding the imbiber so that they may gain the fullest appreciation of the liquid within.

‘The Copper Stills’ presents a pair of rums, identical in ingredients, fermentation and maturity, but differentiated by distillation; one refined by copper column still, the other by copper pot still.Typically, the signature aromas of Mount Gay are achieved through the careful blending of these two distillates.

The Copper Pot Rum is acquainted twice with its namesake still. Long rested in oak barrels, it is a rum only arriving at maturity, maintaining a touch of untamed character and presents the nose with a vinous, complex & interwoven with notes of chocolate, coconut and almonds linger for a sustained finish.

The Copper Column Rum is a mellow and delicate expression of the classic Mount Gay aromas of banana and almond. Crafted in a copper column still, this rum is settling into maturity after ageing in toasted oak. Light-bodied and warm on the palate, with a character that strikes between sweet and bitter, its short, crisp finish is highlighted by floral and sweet fruit notes.
