Soul Growers was formed in 1998 by the experienced winemaker Paul Heinicke with the addition of award-winning winemaker Stuart Bourne, and quickly gathered a strong following in their domestic, Asian and North American markets. Most of their dedicated team members are 5th generation descendants from the first grape-growing families who settled in the Barossa valley. They are fortunate to work with Old Vine, Survivor, Centurion and Ancestor vines, some being over 130 years old, and their goal is to let the unique character of these vineyard sites across the Barossa valley shine through in their wines. Where nature provides, they only guide. With this in mind, they strive to make sure Soul Growers wines emphasise the regional and varietal flavours of their beloved Barossa Valley. The essence of what they strive for is to ensure a lifestyle that is good for the Soul; wine, food, family, music, mates and fun.
Soul Growers Limb Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Cassis and spice dominate palate with touch of avoury oak. Cassis/blackcurrant dominate the palate with integrated natural tannins and a long, persistent finish. Another fantastic single vineyard wine from the team at Soul Growers. Purchasing Cabernet Sauvignon from the Limb family in the western Barossa, the juice is open fermented for 10 days with skin contact before spending two years in a new French oak hogshead. Drinking now or until 2032.
The Limb family have been a part of the viticultural and winemaking landscape of South Australia since the early 1920’s. The vineyard lies along the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley, near the hamlet of Seppeltsfield. Facing west, it catches the afternoon sun, whilst the shallow and infertile soils only allow the vines to eke out a meagre existence – yielding a very small crop of intensely flavoured fruit. This small section of the Barossa is renowned for wines of great power and elegance, and this release is no exception to that.
