St John’s Road Blood & Courage Shiraz 2016
Just like an Aussie rules football player, this Shiraz is full-bodied and powerful. Upfront, this wine displays intense flavours of dark berries and plum mixed with earth and leather. Peeling back the layers exposes red liquorice and dark chocolate; it is fresh and lively, yet rich in texture with subtle oak and soft, well integrated tannins – simply a stylish wine. Blood & Courage is St John’s Road’s interpretation of quintessential Barossa Valley Shiraz. Power with elegance. Full and generous primary fruit flavours skillfully interwoven with oak characteristics from maturation in French Barriques and Hogsheads.
The Picture Series is a celebration of the Barossa’s diversity. Fruit is sourced from traditional family growers in a variety of sub-regions. From the elegant and structural components of the Eden Valley, to powerful fruit from Ebenezer and Stonewell – the scope of the Barossa is detailed and extensive, and proudly showcased in these wines. The pictures portrayed on the front label not only embody historical Barossa heritage but also aptly reflect the individual personality of each wine
After managing a B&B in the south of France, Martin and Vivien Rawlinson were inspired to establish St John’s Road in 2001, with a vision to produce full flavoured, yet elegant, wines which reflect the essence of the Barossa.
Custodianship of St John’s Road now rests with Phil Lehmann, Jonathon Hesketh, Dale Wyman and a variety of Barossa wine growing families. Their aim is to uphold Martin and Vivien’s vision of producing wines that are not only true to the Barossa, but also the sub districts and vineyards they are grown in.
