Lidewij van Wilgen, a successful marketing executive in The Netherlands, started a new life in 2002 when she moved with her 3 young daughters to become a winemaker in the Languedoc. The vineyards were restored, the wine cellar renovated and the main house rebuilt. Now she is one of the ‘Leading Ladies of Languedoc’ and is highly regarded by Jancis Robinson and many other wine writers. Certified organic principles are applied to both viticulture and vinification, her naturally irrigated 14-hectare vineyard being a mix of clay, limestone, flint and fossilized oyster shells.

Terre Des Dames La Dame 2018
14% abv
A pure and intense red wine – gourmand, fresh, easy to drink. All grapes are handpicked and selected on a sorting table. Grenache, Carignan, Syrah (50/30/20%) – Yields 30hl/ha. A typical Languedoc for its fruit and concentration. Atypical however for its freshness and soft tannins.
“Certified organic. 50% Grenache, 30% Carignan, 20% Syrah. Vines between 35 and 70 years old. Yields 35 hl/ha. Hand-picked. Low-intervention vinification with only the Syrah portion aged in barrel. 24,000 bottles.
Friendly red fruit on an open nose. Supple and silky on the palate with the cool scent of wind blowing through garrigue. Really juicy and so incredibly easy to drink, but there is an underlying seriousness. You could underestimate this wine. Lovely savoury spices-and-herbs undertow and finely judged balance of sweetness, ripeness and acidity. Superb finish – long and almost burgundian in its fragrance.”
