The distillery, which was formerly known as Ledaig, was founded in 1798 and has changed hands several times, having undergone a number of periods of closure. The only distillery on Mull, it is currently owned by Burn Stewart Distillers, a subsidiary of Distell Group Limited of South Africa. Its main product, Tobermory single malt, is used in the blends Scottish Leader and Black Bottle. The distillery also produces a smaller amount of peated whisky, which remains known under the former name, Ledaig. They also make a gin named after the colourful town.

Tobermory Ledaig 10 Year Old
46.3% abv
Vol- 70cl
From the Tobermory distillery on The Isle of Mull but with a higher peat content than the usual Tobermory. This is the new bottling from Tobermory that is bottled without colouring, chill-filtration and at the higher 46.3%, this is a massive improvement on the old version.
Ledaig (pronounced “lea-chick”) means ‘safe haven’ in Gaelic. Light-bodied but rich peat character with hints of the sea about it and a touch of almost Talisker-esque pepperiness. Creamy, easy finish makes this a great session dram.
