Tomintoul Distillery is located inside the picturesque Glenlivet estate, within the whisky producing region of Speyside. The distillery is named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland.
The two Whisky retail companies W. & S. Strong & Co. and Hay & HacLeod & Co from Glasgow established Tomintoul Distillery Ltd. in 1964, and in July 1965 the Tomintoul Distillery was founded. The company only ran the distillery for less than a decade and sold it to Scottish & Universal Investment Trust in 1973. Beside Tomintoul, the trust also purchased the Fettercairn Distillery and the blending company Whyte & Mackay, who took over administration of the two distilleries. Whyte & Mackay renovated the distillery and added a second pair of pot stills. Whyte & Mackay were also responsible for the first Single Malt bottling, a 12-year-old Tomintoul, during that period.
Tomintoul Cigar Malt
43% abv
Robert Fleming personally selected an intricate combination of Tomintoul single malts from specially selected vintages, which he has carefully balanced with some rare peated Tomintoul single malt.
Each of these individual single malts has been either matured fully or finished in hand-selected Oloroso sherry butts, sourced from the partner bodegas in Andalucia, Spain.
The Tomintoul Cigar Malt is also referred to as Tomintoul Cigar Malt Parejo, because it has been created to be the perfect ‘Parejo’ (Spanish for “partner”) to the world’s finest cigars. The rich and sweet oloroso sherry notes, creamy malt profile and gentle peat smoke make this single malt the perfect accompaniment to savour alongside your favourite cigar or just to appreciate and enjoy by itself.
