Party and share with carefree abandon with our perennial store favourite – Durello Spumante Brut Palazzi (£9.25). Venture into the world of groovy organics with Terre dei Buth Frizzante (£10) – a frothy, fun take from the land (and grapes) of Prosecco. Incredible quality from the Cape with Anthonij Rupert L’Ormarins Blanc de Blancs 2020 (£18) or Spain’s Francesc Ricart Cava Brut (£12.50), both drinking above and beyond their price. For a gentler caress of Frizzante Italian bubbles, the biodynamic Castello di Tassarolo Gavi Frizzante ‘Spinola’ (£18) is a pure delight.
A little glass of something to start your Christmas day perhaps… Case Paolin Prosecco ‘Campo dei Sass’ Extra Dry (£13) is light, delicate and organic, or a classic glass of low alcohol (5%) Moscato like the Saracco Moscato d’Asti (£17.50). Smoked Salmon for breakfast will pair wonderfully with Vinicole d’Arbois Cremant du Jura ‘Black Label’ (£21) or with Fruits or a Bacon Roll, Charles Fox Reserve Rose (£22).
No matter what time we decide to break out the Champagne, we have over 150 to pick from. Our favourite co-operative CL de la Chapelle Brut Instinct 1er Cru (£28) has flown out to homes and restaurants all year and our latest restock has just landed. We are long term champions of grower Champagnes and Larmandier-Bernier is never far away from our top picks every year – Chardonnay elegance and precision from biodynamic fruits. Also working in tune with the planet, the Laherte Freres range of organic single plot wines offer a real vinous personality. Try the supreme Larmandier-Bernier Latitude Extra Brut (£51) or the vinous and complex Laherte Freres Extra-Brut Ultradition (£42). From the Grand Cru village of Bouzy, the organic Champagne Delavenne Grand Cru Dom Basle Brut Reserve (£45) is a rounded and luminous delight.
When a Grande Marque is called for, this year has been all about the ever-evolving Louis Roederer Brut Collection 246 or, select your favourite producer from the range.
Vintage & deluxe cuvees abound for that special celebratory glass – needing no introduction are Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2013 (£149) Krug Grande Cuvee 169eme Edition (£225)and,  now with even more luscious bottle age bottle, the Dom Perignon Vintage 2015 (£195)
