Araldica is Piemonte's most forward-thinking co-operative, situated in Castel Boglione, in the heart of Barbera d'Asti territory. Here they work with 230 grower members to source quality grapes from around 690ha of vineyards. Many of their members joined the co-operative in the 1950s and have a long and loyal relationhip with the winery. They produce wines from Piemonte's main DOC / DOCG regions - predominantly Barbera, Gavi and Moscato, but also including Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero Arneis.Founded in 1954 by Livio Manera, father of the current Managing Director and winemaker Claudio Manera, Araldica has developed over the past 60+ years to become a major winemaking force in Piemonte, supplying wines across the globe. Claudio's wife Lella heads up quality control at Araldica, where she is responsible for the blending and approval of all wines.
Araldica Alasia Rose Alta Langa Brut 2020
12% abv
Part of the small but growing traditional Alta Langa appellation – a delightful metodo classico rosé produced solely from Pinot Noir, with extended time on lees. After hand harvesting the fruit is transported to the winery and chilled to 5° C. Whole bunches are gently pressed using a pneumatic press (no SO2 is added at this stage). After settling for 48 hours the juice is racked and fermented at 16° C. It rests on its lees for two months before secondary fermentation in bottle at 12° C. In total the wine spends four years on its lees, in a cool underground cellar, to add richness and complexity to the wine. Pale salmon pink with a fine mousse, savoury aromas with hints of subtle red fruit and gentle brioche notes. Layers of tasty strawberry, raspberry and bready characters give a broad and generous palate with a long, and persistent finish. Ideal as an aperitif or party wine.
