Within Armagnac, legend has it that, one day long ago, Baron de Sigognac took all the traditional clocks out of his cellars. Fascinated by the mystery surrounding the way Armagnac ages, he had some very strange timepieces made. On these clocks, the face had ten divisions instead of twelve. The seconds had become years, the big hand moved only once a decade and the hour hand marked the centuries. Baron de Sigognac had found the core of the mystery of Armagnac… The legend adds that, with time, Baron de Sigognac came to trust only his palate in telling the age of an Armagnac. The clocks were left unwound. Baron Sigognac himself had become the memory of his Armagnacs.
Baron de Sigognac Armagnac (Bottled 1998) 1933
40% abv
This remarkable vintage Armagnac is a tribute to the enduring craftsmanship of the Guasch family, whose roots in Armagnac production trace back to the 12th century. Distilled in 1933 from a blend of Ugni Blanc and Baco grapes, the eau-de-vie was aged for over 65 years before being bottled in 1998. The result is a spirit of deep amber colour with golden highlights, offering an aromatic, rich, and full-bodied profile. On the palate, it delivers remarkable depth and a long, elegant finish that lingers with grace and intensity.
