The 2022 Etna Bianco Contrada Cavaliere is youthfully coy with a delicately perfumed mix of wildflowers, white smoke and ginger-tinged green apples. Built on purity, it’s lifted and refined with a burst of saline minerality up front and crisp orchard fruits that add a crunchy sensation toward the close. The 2022 finishes staining and long with youthful tension, a tinge of salinity and a sensation of liquid stone.” 2025 -2029

Vineyard in Contrada Cavaliere, south-west slope of Mount Etna, within the municipality of Santa Maria di Licodia (CT). This contrada is known for its high elevation (almost 950 m a.s.l. / 3,100 ft a.s.l.), low rainfall rate and abundant luminosity.
100% Carricante, the noble autochthonous white grape grown on the Etna volcano. The soil is sandy volcanic, rich in skeleton and minerals, with a sub-acid profile. The 50-year-old vines are trained in rows and pruned using the Guyot system, with a planting density of 6,500 plants per hectare and a yield of 6,000 kg/ha. The mountainous climate is humid but less rainy than in other areas of Etna in the colder season, with good ventilation and very significant temperature changes between day and night.

The grapes are harvested by hand after the second week of October. In the cellar, they are de-stemmed and pressed softly. Fermentation takes place over about 12 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, using a specific autochthonous yeast selected in the vineyard by Benanti after years of research and experimentation. The wine is left to mature in the tank on its fine lees with periodic stirrings for 12 months. The wine then spends six months in the bottle before it is released.

The Benanti family, whose Sicilian roots date back to 1734, were true pioneers of Etna with Giuseppe Benanti being the first to realise the true potential for this unique volcanic region. Etna would not be what it is today, were it not for the visionary work of Giuseppe Benanti. The winery, which was set up in 1988 has, over time, sold off the lesser deemed plots of land and acquired further plots in the most prestigious slopes and Contrada. Now totalling 28 hectares, the winery only produces wines from Nerelo Mascalese, Nerelo Capuccio and Carricante.

What do I pay for delivery?

Orders under £150 are charged an initial £9.95 incl. VAT.

Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly.
Orders under £190 are charged an initial £12.00 incl.

All stock bought from Bond will be charged at delivery cost as quoted by the bond. As this varies dependent on the location of the wines and ultimate destination this will be quoted to you at the point of billing for VAT and duty.

And can we change order.

Deliveries are normally between 09.00 and 17.00 Tuesday to Friday and a signature is required on receipt of delivery. (We do not ship on a Friday for Monday delivery unless specifically requested to do so).

A shipping confirmation email will be sent when your order has been processed and shipped. You will be sent a further email and/or text with a delivery time slot and a consignment number along with instructions on how to amend this if required.

If you are out a card is left, with an instruction to call the local depot to re-arrange delivery. Alternatively, you can inform us to “leave safe”, “leave with a neighbour”, “leave in garage” etc. and we will pass this information onto the courier. Please remember that, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, alcohol will only be left with persons over 18 Years Old.

We use Mailsafe packaging and double walled cardboard boxes for secure shipping of all bottles. Clear labelling marked FRAGILE is applied and all our despatches.

UK mainland deliveries are overnight from confirmation of despatch with the exception of the following postcodes where deliveries are made on a 2 to 5 day service from despatch :
