Situated in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, the estate was founded in 1870 and is today run by fifth-generartion winemaker Benoit Marguet. The estate has 8 ha under vine which are all Grand Cru; 7.30 ha in the village of Ambonnay and 0.70 ha in the village of Bouzy. The average vine age is over 40 years, and plantings consist of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay. Biodynamic since 2009, his philosophical and at times radical approach stems from a commitment to terroir-driven expressions of champagne with minimal if any added SO2 and low dosage across the range. Work on the vineyard soils is undertaken with the assistance of horses to contribute to soil health by avoiding the use of heavy machinery.
