Based in the heart of Normandy, Christian Drouin is one of the most highly regarded producers of artisanal Calvados and cider in France. Established in the 1960s by Christian Drouin, the family estate is now run by his son Guillaume Drouin, who continues to build on its reputation for precision, innovation, and respect for tradition. The estate works with over 30 varieties of cider apples sourced from traditional Norman orchards, allowing for exceptional complexity and balance in their spirits. Fermentation is slow and natural, followed by distillation using both traditional alembic stills and column stills depending on the style. Ageing takes place in a wide range of oak casks, including those previously used for wine, rum, and even whisky, giving Drouin’s Calvados a distinctive depth and character. Drouin produces across the key Calvados appellations, including Pays d'Auge and Calvados, crafting spirits that range from fresh, fruit-forward expressions to complex, long-aged bottlings. Alongside Calvados, they also produce high-quality cider and pommeau, showcasing the versatility of Normandy’s apple terroir. The house style is defined by aromatic purity, elegance, and a finely judged balance between fruit and oak. Whether young and vibrant or mature and contemplative, Drouin’s spirits consistently reflect a meticulous approach to production and a deep understanding of Normandy’s rich cider-making heritage. Today, Christian Drouin stands as a benchmark producer—combining innovation with authenticity, and helping to elevate Calvados onto the global fine spirits stage.
Christian Drouin Normandie Cidre 75cl
4.5% abv
Made from a carefully selected blend of bittersweet, sweet, and sharp apples, this classic brut cider captures the balance and character that define the region’s finest ciders.
Slow fermentation preserves the purity of the fruit, resulting in a naturally sparkling cider with fine, persistent bubbles. On the nose, it offers fresh orchard aromas—crisp apple, gentle spice, and a touch of wildflower honey. The palate is dry and refreshing, with bright acidity balancing soft tannins and a subtle earthy complexity.
