Founded in 1987 by Alejandro Fernández, the legendary winemaker behind Tinto Pesquera, Condado de Haza is one of the flagship estates of the Ribera del Duero. Located near the town of Roa, the estate spans over 200 hectares of south-facing vineyards, planted exclusively to Tempranillo (Tinto Fino), the noble grape of the region. Alejandro’s vision with Condado de Haza was to create a fully self-sufficient estate—a “château style” winery—where the vineyards, winemaking, and ageing all happen on-site. The result is a wine that is consistently deep, expressive, and true to its origin. Known for its rich dark fruit, hints of spice, and smooth tannins, Condado de Haza is more structured than its cousin Pesquera, with a touch more muscle and concentration, while still maintaining elegance and balance. Often described as a hidden gem in the Fernández Rivera family of estates, Condado de Haza continues to impress with age-worthy, soulful Tempranillo that punches well above its price point.

“Wave upon wave of dried herbs, tobacco and redcurrant and blueberry fruit provide interest and intrigue. Decadent and inviting with a succulent leathery texture, a searing tang of acidity and superb belt of velvet tannins.”
