Although Anne and Hervé took over the 7-hectare property in 1990, it is only in very recent years that the domaine has undergone a total transformation. Lately, the wines have been amongst the finest in the village as a series of brilliant reviews has attested. They have always had wonderfully sited old vines, but they now work organically from flowering onwards and yields have been significantly reduced. They follow the lunar calendar and, in some of their vineyards, plough by horse. With minimal intervention in the winery, a judicious usage of new oak and only one racking prior to bottling without fining or filtration, the Sigauts are quietly making some of the most well-defined, thoroughbred wines in Chambolle.

Domaine Anne et Herve Sigaut Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuees 2022
14% abv
3 parcels of 30-40-year-old vines next to Bonnes Mares. 30% new oak.
“A slightly fresher nose freely reveals ripe aromas of cassis, various dark berries, violet, lilac and a hint of jasmine tea. Consistent with the nose, there is slightly better vibrancy to the sleek and lightly stony flavors that conclude in a lingering and slightly warm finish where a touch of mocha makes itself apparent.”
89-92 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2024
