Fabio Motta's story is a winemaker’s dream fulfilled. After years of working alongside renowned Bolgheri producer—and now father-in-law—Michele Satta, Fabio founded his own estate in 2009, acquiring 4 hectares of vines first planted in 1997. Nestled in the heart of the Bolgheri DOC, his vineyards enjoy a prime position: sun-drenched slopes with a southwesterly exposure, perched between the rolling Tuscan hills and the shimmering Tyrrhenian Sea. From the beginning, Fabio's wines have expressed the soul of Bolgheri — its elegance, its structure, and its natural beauty. His approach in the cellar is one of minimal intervention, relying on native yeasts, no filtration, and a deep respect for the individuality of each vintage. The result is a range of wines defined not by force, but by finesse, balance, and layered complexity. In 2015, Fabio began converting his vineyards to biodynamic farming.
Fabio Motta Pievi Bolgheri Rosso 2023
13.5% abv
Blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon & Sangiovese (25% each) – primary fresh fruits, notes alongside balsamic notes and rich in pliant ripe tannins carrying great perfume and texture.
“Expressive nose of ripe plums and cherries overlaid with a hint of mint and rosemary. Juicy and fresh in the mouth with smooth tannins and great texture. A lovely combination of fruit ripeness and crisp acidity gives a lightness to the wine.” 2025 – 2028
95 Points, Decanter, April 2025
Harvested by hand and each variety is fermented in concretel with the natural yeasts only. The cap is pushed down by hand twice a day and in the first days of fermentation with frequent delastages to let the must breathe. Normally the fermentations take two weeks for each variety.
After the racking and spontaneous malolactic fermentations, the wines are normally assembled before the end of the year, after which it returns for a year to refine in non-vitrified concrete
tanks. After the appropriate filtrations it is bottled and ages at least for 6 months in the bottle.
