The Gremillet estate was founded by Jean-Michel Gremillet in 1979 when he inherited a plot of vines from his mother, Lulu. Today, the house possesses over 40 hectares of vineyards and is situated in a small village 45 kilometres from Troyes - the historic capital of Champagne - and 180 kilometres south of Reims. The vines lie on steep, sun-drenched hillsides in Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils. Pinot Noir is king here, and constitutes around 94% of Gremillet’s plantings, with the remainder dedicated to Chardonnay, ideal for creating a classic, baked biscuit, rich, fruit-flavoured Champagne.

This champagne is an attractive pinky colour, and it’s good fruity stuff with ripe strawberry and vanilla rolling over your tongue. That’s enhanced by classic baked biscuit flavours and crisp yeastiness. Champagne Gremillet are a small, but beautifully formed family-owned Champagne house, situated in the far south of the Champagne district near the town of Les Riceys. Due to its southern latitude the grapes achieve greater ripeness which leads to a richer fruit and classic baked-biscuit flavours mixed with characteristic toasty yeast overtones. The Pinot Noir grapes are pressed for up to 2 hours to extract the jus de presse. Then the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are vinified separately and then blended to give this delicate and delicious rose Champagne. Gremillet age all their Champagnes for a minimum of 24 months to ensure that the wines are not too young and all the elements have married.
