Domaine Lyrarakis, established in 1966, is located in the mountainous commune of Alagni (440 metres above sea-level), south of the city of Heraklion, in Crete. The well-preserved 14th-century stone-presses in the fields around the winery are testament to the area’s long history of grape-growing and winemaking. The winery is at the forefront of viticultural innovation, championing obscure local varieties such as the ancient white cultivars of Plytó, Dafni and Vidiano, that it rescued from extinction.
Lyrarakis Liastos Sun Dried Sweet Wine 37.5cl 2024
12% abv
Clear orange colour. Intense deep bouquet of ripe peach and apricot combined with delicious orange marmalade with a hint of herbs and honey in the nose. Rich mouthfeel with citrus acidity and a long aromatic aftertaste. Excellent bottle-ageing potential that can overpass 10 years.
This sweet “Liastos” wine is a blend of local grapes which sun-dry in the shade for 7 days (to prevent over-oxidation) then 2 day in the sun giving a concentrated juice with density of aromas and taste. Caramelised apricots with a hint of herbs in the nose, followed by a bitter orange marmalade mouthfeel, which is balanced by the wine’s exceptional freshness. Aged in 225lt oak barrels for about 9 months
