Adrien Gautherin joined the family estate in 2008 and represents the 14th generation of the Gautherin family, recorded as farmers in 1585. It was Adrien’s father Alain who really expanded the Domaine’s holdings, now up to 17 hectares. Forty percent of these are Grand Crus (Les Clos, Vaudésir and Grenouilles) and Premier Cru, their portion of Vaillons represents 20% of their total production. The new winery is eight years old and uses geothermal technology that has greatly reduced footprint - and bills. This is the only one of its type in Chablis to our knowledge. "Adrien Gautherin is chatty and exudes discrete confidence about his tenets, vinifying in a mixture of stainless-steel vats, 600-liter barrels and concrete eggs. " These wines are labelled exclusively for Woodwinters using the label of Michelle Naulot, the maiden name of Adrien’s grandmother and wife of the estate’s titular Raoul Gautherin.

It’s intense, powerful, linear and electric on the finish. I served a glass to my dad, who rarely drinks wine. “That’s one of the best wines I have ever drunk,” he remarked. And it probably was…” 2027 – 2049
