Quinta de La Rosa Tonel 12, Ten Year Old Tawny Port NV 50cl

20% abv

Vol- 50cl

Quinta de la Rosa Tonel No12 10yr Tawny Port is made each year in the traditional manner, trodden in granite lagares from grapes grown at Quinta de la Rosa.
Each year they keep back a small quantity of their best ports LBV quality and above. It is from these stocks that they blend their Tonel 12.
This blending occurs on a regular basis to ensure that stocks are always fresh.
For many years, before 1988, when they started selling port under the La Rosa brand, the Bergqvist family used to go down to ‘Tonel 12’ (a large 25 pipe barrel kept in the lodge under the house) and fill their decanter full of delicious ten year old tawny direct from the barrel. To this day they still refer to Tonel 12, instead of ten year old tawny.

Dried fruit, fig, honey and almond notes and an exceptionally long finish. a pleasure drinking by itself or pairs with paté, fois gras, medium to mature cheeses or coffee flavoured deserts.

Good stock

Never one to rest on her laurels, Sophia Bergqvist has invested significantly over the last few years at La Rosa with the construction of a new winery. New granite lagares, fermentation tanks and an automatic basket press have been purchased, a carefully thought out tasting room overlooking the Douro River has been constructed, an extensive area for entertaining has been created, as well as a number of apartments and guest rooms built to develop the tourism side of the business. You can’t help but be impressed with the scale of this project and admire Sophia Bergqvist’s vision for this family Quinta, whilst she has maintained the integrity of the old building and the charm of a family estate in the Douro.
