Ramos Pinto enjoys the distinction of holding the largest proportion of vineyards in relation to its production in the Alto Corgo and Douro Superior areas of the famed Douro region Founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio, this Port house became part of the Champagne Louis Roederer group in 1986, sharing a similar family owned history and has since enjoyed significant investment and further improvements in quality. João Nicolau de Almeida, the oenologist, was responsible for officially identifying the five key grape varieties (out of over 70 originally grown) that are best suited to wine production in the Douro region

Ramos Pinto 30 Year Old Tawny
20.5% abv
Striking pale tawny amber colour with orange/brown hints and greenish hue on the rim, typical of ancient cask-aged wines. First impression is warm and charming with soft tones of cinnamon and ancient dried fruits. The initial flavours of dried fruits, almonds and hazelnut are followed by subtle, complex and ethereal wood and spice qualities. Culminates in a sweet, warm finish.
Decanter: 98 POINTS, PLATINUM MEDAL DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS 2019
August 2019
“This sings from the glass with a sweet spice, marmalade, molasses, clove, nutty, toffee, caramel and balsamic perfume. Very complex array of flavours including roasted coffee, scorched earth, fig and walnut. A distinctive style, done very well. High impressive.”
Made from wines from the Ramos Pinto estates located in the best areas of the demarcated Douro region. A blend made from several Port wines that have been aged in casks for decades at the Ramos Pinto cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. with aging cask losing around 3% of volume each year, and with the 30 year old containing ports going back as far as the 1930s, for every bottle of 30 year old that is produced one other has been lost to time.
