The history of Ridge Vineyards is the history of one of the world’s great vineyards and wineries that is worth recounting in full. Osea Perrone, a doctor who became a prominent member of San Francisco's Italian community, bought 180 acres near the top of Monte Bello Ridge in 1885. He terraced the slopes, planted vineyards and constructed the Monte Bello Winery using native limestone, producing the first vintage under that name in 1892. This unique cellar, built into the mountainside on three levels, is Ridge's production facility. At 2600', it is surrounded by the "upper vineyard." The wines and personalities behind them have received numerous accolades and marked many momentous occasions over the years. The dedication to producing the very highest quality and the respect for all the links in the wine selling chain has made Ridge Vineyards one of the World’s most respected and recognised wineries.

Ridge Geyserville 2023
14.7% abv
Ridge’s Geyserville, first produced in 1966, is a classic field blend sourced from three adjoining vineyards on a single soil type, deposited by an ancient washout of the Russian River. The 2023 vintage is a blend of Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet. The wine is fermented with native yeasts using a floating cap and daily pump-overs, undergoes full malolactic fermentation naturally, and is aged for sixteen months in air-dried American oak barrels. This wine embodies the vineyard’s history, delivering structure, complexity, and a refined expression of sitedriven character. The 2023 vintage experienced heavy winter rains that replenished groundwater. Moderate temperatures during the growing season were followed by cooler weather in August and September,
pushing harvest late into October. The extended ripening period resulted in a wine with dark fruit and supple tannins balanced by beautiful acidity. Enjoyable now, this classic field blend will continue to evolve over the next ten years. Deep and concentrated, this wine reveals aromas of ripe black cherry, blueberry, and fig, interwoven with notes of wild herbs, graphite, and sweet oak spice. A plush, full-bodied texture is balanced by lively acidity and well integrated tannins. The finish is long and refined, with lingering flavours of dark chocolate, espresso, and dried violet.
