Rimapere is a boutique Marlborough estate established in 2012 by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild, uniting Rothschild heritage with the cultural richness of Aotearoa through its Maori name, meaning “five arrows.” Located in the renowned Rapaura district of the Wairau Valley, the vineyard benefits from alluvial terraces of gravel and clay, abundant sunshine, and Marlborough’s cool climate. Farmed using regenerative and organic principles, the estate emphasizes soil health, biodiversity, and vine-by-vine precision, aiming for wines that express both terroir and stewardship. Under the guidance of winemaker Anne Escalle and in collaboration with the Craggy Range team, Rimapere produces refined, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc and a limited-production Pinot Noir that showcase purity, vibrancy, and mineral tension. With around 24 hectares of vineyards, Rimapere operates with a philosophy centred on long-term sustainability and minimal intervention, working toward full organic certification. Its wines reflect a balance of New Zealand’s natural freshness and the finesse associated with the Edmond de Rothschild Heritage portfolio. Visitors to the Rapaura Road cellar door experience intimate tastings and vineyard walks that highlight the estate’s dedication to craftsmanship and land guardianship. The result is a thoughtful and expressive interpretation of Marlborough—an elegant fusion of place, culture, and heritage.
