The wine displays a deep ruby colour and exudes a bouquet of black fruit, spices, and a subtle hint of vanilla. Partida Limitada are batches of unique and unrepeatable micro-vinifications. This Malbec is from the clay loam soil of the Finca Familia Porretta in Alto Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. Historically, the northern oasis of Mendoza was home to the province’s very first vine plantings. The area, which spans the departments of Luján de Cuyo and Maipú, is known as Primera Zona because it is the first to be irrigated by the Mendoza River. Channeled from Las Compuertas (sluice gates) down into the plains, the Mendoza River has been sustaining life here since the pre-Columbian period. The Primera Zona boasts the greatest concentration of old vines in Mendoza—about 2,000 of the 2,700 total hectares of Malbec were planted before 1960, according to data from the viticultural observatory.
