Valentini stands as one of the most venerable and esteemed names in Italian winemaking, boasting mastery in the art of traditional viticulture. Originating from Spain, the Valentini family's lineage can be traced back to 1650, a period when the Bourbons held sway over southern Italy and Abruzzo marked the northern boundary of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. In 1868, Camillo Valentini gained formal recognition for the exceptional quality of his wines. However, in keeping with the customs of the time, the estate was overseen by a manager rather than a family member. The 1950s saw Edoardo emerge as the first Valentini to wholeheartedly devote himself to the estate, a commitment he maintained until his passing in 2006. Following in his footsteps, his son Francesco Paolo Valentini has assumed leadership, with support from his spouse Elèna, who hails from a Hispanic background, and their son Gabriele. Situated in the heart of the Colline Teramane DOCG zone in Abruzzo, at Loreto Aprutino, the 60-hectare property is nestled on sandy and calcareous clay soils, with views extending to the Adriatic Sea. The estate is divided between the cultivation of olive oil and grape varieties, including Trebbiano d’Abruzzo and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo both of which can only be described as the greatest examples produced in the region.

Valentini Trebbiano d’Abruzzo 2020
12.5% abv
“More savory than sweet, the 2020 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo slowly opens with a rich blend of raw almonds and smoky crushed stone, giving way to dried nectarines and hints of sage. This seductress is ripe and succulent upon entry, yet with a salty, sultry core of minerality, blending sour lime with apricots and liquid stone. The 2020 ends with a lemony concentration and herbal thrust, tapering off saline and lightly structured yet incredibly fresh. The 2020 is simply spellbinding.” 2024 – 2038
