Vega Sicilia Unico 2004

14% abv

Vol- 75cl

The 2004 Único was a revelation. It’s very fine, elegant and balanced, starting to show more tertiary notes and the Vega Sicilia perfume. It’s medium to full-bodied with a fine thread and very good balance. You can drink this now, but it should go on for decades. This contains as much as 13% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vega Sicilia is the most iconic of Spanish wineries. It was founded in 1864 and passed through several families in its hundred year existence before it was purchased by the Álvarez family in 1982. Under the management of Pablo Álvarez, the family has continued to make further investments in its winemaking business: in 1991 the Alión Winery was set up in the Ribera del Duero region, the Tokaj Oremus Winery in Hungary, was acquired in 1993 and the Pintia Winery was established in 1997 in the region of Toro.

The total vineyard area of Vega Sicilia is 200 hectares and is distributed in 52 viticultural management plots, divided into 19 different soils, with an average age of around 30 years. The vines are planted on hillsides and benefit from a northern exposition. All soil types and varieties are micro-vinified and Vega Sicilia have made considerable investments in the winery to this end.
