WoodWinters Whisky Sampler – Burning Drams 2026
40% abv
On Burns Night we raise a glass not just to Scotland’s national bard, but to the land, people, and spirit that shaped his words. This sampler is a quiet journey through places Robert Burns knew intimately—by birth, by work, or by imagination—each dram chosen to echo his deep connection to soil, song, and society. Together they form a poetic flight: whiskies that speak of fields once tilled, coasts once walked, taverns once filled with argument and verse, and the enduring soul of Scotland itself.
Lochlea’s ‘Our Barley’ is the heart of the collection, distilled on the very farm where Burns lived and laboured as a young man. Few whiskies can claim such a direct link to his life; fewer still grow their barley from the same fields he once worked, making this dram a living tribute to his rural roots.
Balblair 12 carries us north to the Black Isle, close to the site of Ferintosh—Burns’s most celebrated whisky, praised in his poem Scotch Drink. While Ferintosh is long gone, Balblair stands as its spiritual neighbour, representing the Highland style Burns admired.
Arran ‘Robert Burns’ Malt honours the island Burns visited and wrote about, a whisky created explicitly in his name and spirit, approachable, generous, and made to be shared.
Annandale Storyman brings us to Dumfries, where Burns spent his final years and now lies at rest; this dram reflects the reflective, narrative side of the man—the poet, the thinker, the storyteller.
Springbank’s Campbeltown Loch nods to the whisky culture that inspired many a Burns verse: robust, maritime, and communal, from a town that once powered the world’s whisky trade.
Finally, Holyrood Pitch represents Edinburgh, where Burns moved at the height of his fame, finding himself at the centre of intellectual and social life—this modern, experimental spirit mirroring his willingness to challenge convention.
Together, these drams form a toast to Robert Burns the poet, the farmer, the exciseman, the traveller, and the man, best honoured as he would have wished with good whisky, good food
and good company.
The pack includes a 35ml dram of each of the following:
Lochlea Distilling Co. Our Barley
Balblair 12 Years Old
Arran Robert Burns Malt
Annandale Storyman
Springbank Campbeltown Loch Blended Malt
Holyrood Pitch
