The nose evokes aromas of small red fruits, with hints of spice and forest floor. There is also a minty note that runs through the core of the wine, a flavour often found in old vine Pais. In the mouth it has firm but delicate tannins, characteristic of the country’s typicity, but at the same time the wine is very elegant and glides across the palate. Above all, this is a wine of harmony and lightness. Its dangerously quaffable.

This wine won not only best Pais but best wine overall from Itata by the prestigious Catad’Or awards. The grapes from this tiny one hectare parcel are over 200 years old and belong to grower Adrian Torres. The wine was fermented in small clay amphora for 15 days and then went to maturation in old oak barrels for 12 month. The wine is bottled and spends another year in bottle before being released.

“The 2022 Aguila is a more red-fruited, aromatically introverted showing of these 200-year-old vines from Ranquil. The palate offers a similar concentration to the 2023 I tasted next to it, with a touch more succulence and granitic lift through the delicate, understated finish. While I slightly prefer the recent vintage’s finish and more lively floral aromas, this remains an atypically pure and seamless expression of País.”

Ana Maria Cumsille

Ana Maria Cumsille has been making wine for multiple decades starting out at commercial wineries. She fell in love with Itata and over the years made friends with several families who farm small parcels of old bush vines in the Itata subregions of Guarilihue, Cerro Verde, Trehuaco, and Ranquil. Ana Maria decided to start buying fruit from these families so she could make single vineyard wines from different, small vineyards that grow Carignan, Cinsault, Pais, and Malbec among other varietals. Ana Maria is a lover of the outdoors and she lives in Santiago and is deeply involved in the Chilean wine scene. Recognised as ‘Winemaker Revelation of the Year 2023’ by Descorchados and one of the world’s top 100 winemakers by The Drinks business, Ana Maria has fast become one of the leading lights in the Chilean wine scene and a true champion of the wines of Itata.

What do I pay for delivery?

Orders under £150 are charged an initial £9.95 incl. VAT.

Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly.
Orders under £190 are charged an initial £12.00 incl.

All stock bought from Bond will be charged at delivery cost as quoted by the bond. As this varies dependent on the location of the wines and ultimate destination this will be quoted to you at the point of billing for VAT and duty.

And can we change order.

Deliveries are normally between 09.00 and 17.00 Tuesday to Friday and a signature is required on receipt of delivery. (We do not ship on a Friday for Monday delivery unless specifically requested to do so).

A shipping confirmation email will be sent when your order has been processed and shipped. You will be sent a further email and/or text with a delivery time slot and a consignment number along with instructions on how to amend this if required.

If you are out a card is left, with an instruction to call the local depot to re-arrange delivery. Alternatively, you can inform us to “leave safe”, “leave with a neighbour”, “leave in garage” etc. and we will pass this information onto the courier. Please remember that, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, alcohol will only be left with persons over 18 Years Old.

We use Mailsafe packaging and double walled cardboard boxes for secure shipping of all bottles. Clear labelling marked FRAGILE is applied and all our despatches.

UK mainland deliveries are overnight from confirmation of despatch with the exception of the following postcodes where deliveries are made on a 2 to 5 day service from despatch : 

IV 3 to 11, IV14 to 28, IV 40 & IV 51 to 54, IV 63. KW 1 to 3 & KW 5 to 14. PH 33 to 41
