Chene Bleu Astralabe 2020

14% abv

Vol- 75cl

A vibrant easy-drinking Grenache-Syrah blend, named after the real-life lovechild of famed medieval lovers Abélard & Héloïse. Younger in age and spirit than its complex, collectible “parents”, it aims to deliver fresh fruit but also nice spice, concentration and length.
The nose offers fresh red fruit, dried flowers and hints of spice. The palate is vibrant with juicy red fruit, cherry and delicate tannins. The wine has a long aromatic finish with notes of fresh spice and adark fruit.

Astralabe is made through meticulous hand harvesting of grapes from high-altitude vineyards, followed by sorting to remove damaged fruit, crushing, and fermentation with wild yeasts; the wine undergoes maceration for color and flavor extraction, is aged in French oak barrels to enhance complexity, and is blended before bottling with minimal intervention, reflecting the winery’s commitment to organic and biodynamic practices that preserve the wine’s natural characteristics and terroir.

Since its inception and several decades ago, Chêne Bleu has been recognised as one of the Rhône’s most distinctive voices, a pioneering Domaine, where Southern Rhône generosity meets Northern Rhone-style elegance and Burgundian winemaking precision. Their remote, high-altitude location underpins a fervent commitment to biodiversity, sustainability and regenerative viticulture. From La Verrière, the restored medieval priory in Crestet, Vaucluse, Xavier Rolet and his family and team forged a reputation for wines of prestige, authenticity and longevity that sit comfortably among the world’s fine wines.
