The Colonsay Brewery, an independent brewer, takes its name from the tiny island it has called home in the Scottish Hebridean islands since 2007. Colonsay is just to the north of the famous malt whisky island of Islay and just to the west of the Isle of Jura. The seaside brewery uses water from Loch Sgoltaire, pure and naturally filtered through peat moss from the surrounding hills and a combination of crystal and optic barley.
Colonsay Wild Island Botanics Gin
We love a good wheat based gin here and having the opportunity to get some of the first 750 bottles of Colonsay Brewery’s inaugural batch which is distilled from just that we thought, why not! A beautiful bottle that takes inspiration from the contours of Kiloran Bay for design. Beyond the bottle, this beautifully smooth spirits flavour has a uniquely Colonsay flavour from the hand foraged botanicals from the Island; Lemon Balm, Wild Water Mint, Meadowsweet, Sea Buckthorn, Heather Flowers, Bog Myrtle. Now add all those interesting to a classic base of Juniper, Coriander, Angelica, Orris Root, Cassia Bark, Cinnamon Bark, Nutmeg, Liquorice, Mediterranean Sweet Lemon Peel, Orange Peel, and you’ve got a bottle of gin that’s all rather special! Now all you need is a wee slice of lemon and some mint to garnish this gin while you sip back and bask in all its genius.
