In1986 Eric Dhondt and Edith Grellet decided to stop selling grapes to Négociants, founded Dhondt-Grellet and realized their own vision. Their son Adrien took over management of the winery in 2010. Due to many years of biological work, his son Adrien was able to convert the business to biodynamic viticulture as early as 2013 (without certification), which was essential for his high quality standards. The liveliness of the soils enable him to produce these uniquely expressive single-site wines from the top sites of the Côte des Blancs.
Dhondt-Grellet ‘Dans un Premier Temps’ Brut NV
12% abv
Leveraging the perpetual reserve dating back to 1986, the year of the Domaine’s inception, the Cuvee Dans Un Premier Temps offers the complexity of time paired with the generosity of the latest 2019 vintage. Each year around 30% of the production is assembled in a special barrel containing a small proportion of each consecutive vintage of Dhondt-Grellet. This family barrel keeps maturing on fresh lees, providing the backbone of the Dans Premier Temps cuvee’s yearly blend. A solera system offering a perfectly mature Champagne straight from release but still very true to the vintage and terroir.
BLEND: 70% from 2019 vintage – 30% from “Reserve Perpetuelle” back to 1986 |
TERROIRS: 50% Chardonnay from Sezanne, 30% Pinot Noir from Avenay Val d’Or and 20% old vine Pinot Meunier from Cuis.
