The Dugat family have been winegrowers in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation since the beginning of the 17th century. Bernard Dugat and his son, Loîc are the 12th and 13th generation to exploit the unique knowledge of wine-making and working in the vines, which has been acquired over four centuries.
Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru “Champeaux” 2011
13% abv
Average age of vines in the plot – 55 years old. The annual production is 1200 to 1800 bottles.
Soil is Clay and limeston. The vines have only been treated with organic preparations since 2004. Aged for 16 to 18 months in 100% new oak casks, non filtered wine.
It has a very attractive and beautifully defined bouquet with mineral-tinged black cherry and cassis fruit, seductive and sensual with one of the best mineral expressions from the domaine’s premier crus. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin driven by the crisp acidity, very well balanced and absorbing the 100% new oak deftly towards the slightly candied, crunchy, live-wire finish. This is excellent.
Wine for laying down, but can be appreciated when young after carafing for several hours before serving.
