Nose: Complex evolving layers of dark, bitter chocolate, black tea leaves, ground mixed spices, and Medjool dates vie with desiccated coconut, green grape skins, dried banana chips, and a hint of zesty lemon.
Palate: Soft, oily and sweet on the palate. A sense of freshness. Golden melon, ripe pineapple, gentle caramel, and more dark chocolate.
Finish: Grippy and long-lasting. A tangy, juicy lemon sherbert rush gives way to more green-grape-skin astringency that lasts and lasts.

PENULTIMUS is the thirtieth release (Mark XXX) in the Award Winning Exceptional Cask Selection series. It is a blend of Rums distilled in the copper double retort potstill and the continuous twin column stills of FOURSQUARE RUM DISTILLERY, and aged for fifteen years in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Moscatel Wine casks. More specifically, for the detail-oriented, it is a blend of two aged Rums. A dual-maturation comprising ten years in ex-Bourbon casks, followed by five years in ex-Moscatel Wine casks. This is then further blended with a fifteen-year-old ex-Bourbon Cask Rum. Excitingly, for those who follow the various releases from FOURSQUARE RUM DISTILLERY, this is the first time that Spanish Moscatel Wine Casks have featured as a part of the maturation bill.

This excellent expression of Single Blended Rum* has been distilled and fully matured at FOURSQUARE RUM DISTILLERY before blending and bottling, presented at 57% alcohol by volume, without chill-filtration, at its natural colour, and free from sweeteners and other adjuncts.

SINGLE BLENDED RUM is a term that is taken from the Gargano Classification. This framework seeks to elevate the Rum category from the ine fectual ‘classification by colour’ reference that is pervasive in the spirits world. Championed by FOURSQUARE RUM DISTILLERY, the term SINGLE BLENDED RUM is a reference to a Rum produced by a SINGLE producer utilising a BLEND of both batch-distilled Pot Still Rums and continuous distilled Traditional Column Still Rums.

The Foursquare Distillery occupies the site of a former sugar factory that dates back to 1636 and, as one of the most modern and efficient rum distilleries in the world, is designed to be both highly energy efficient and environmentally friendly. The distillery produces light rums in a three-column vacuum stills and heavier rums in a modern pot still. RL Seale is one of Barbados’ oldest trading houses, a family-owned business whose involvement in rum-making extends from father-to-son since 1820. Current head distiller, Richard Seale, is one of the region’s most innovative distillers and blenders and has a passion for producing perfect rum with great flavour. Rum has been produced on the island of Barbados for more than 300 years, but it was not until the 1906 Rum Duty Act was passed that the industry began to develop as we know it today. Prior to this, distillation took place on many of the plantations, but the new law meant the distilleries had to obtain a licence and could sell only in bulk. Hence many of the Bridgetown trading companies became bottlers, including Martin Doorly & Co, and the growth of branded names began. Martin Doorly evolved into Doorly’s Macaw Rum, and became the first bottled rum exported from the island. Doorly’s rums are still famous throughout the world.

What do I pay for delivery?

Orders under £150 are charged an initial £9.95 incl. VAT.

Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly.
Orders under £190 are charged an initial £12.00 incl.

All stock bought from Bond will be charged at delivery cost as quoted by the bond. As this varies dependent on the location of the wines and ultimate destination this will be quoted to you at the point of billing for VAT and duty.

And can we change order.

Deliveries are normally between 09.00 and 17.00 Tuesday to Friday and a signature is required on receipt of delivery. (We do not ship on a Friday for Monday delivery unless specifically requested to do so).

A shipping confirmation email will be sent when your order has been processed and shipped. You will be sent a further email and/or text with a delivery time slot and a consignment number along with instructions on how to amend this if required.

If you are out a card is left, with an instruction to call the local depot to re-arrange delivery. Alternatively, you can inform us to “leave safe”, “leave with a neighbour”, “leave in garage” etc. and we will pass this information onto the courier. Please remember that, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, alcohol will only be left with persons over 18 Years Old.

We use Mailsafe packaging and double walled cardboard boxes for secure shipping of all bottles. Clear labelling marked FRAGILE is applied and all our despatches.

UK mainland deliveries are overnight from confirmation of despatch with the exception of the following postcodes where deliveries are made on a 2 to 5 day service from despatch :
